Club Lusitanus is located in the centre of the town of Golegã, Portugal’s “Capital of the Horse”, and home of some of the most important breeders of the Lusitano horse. Located 1.5 hrs from Lisbon Airport, Golegã is picturesque and unique, characterised by its cobbled streets, timeless atmosphere and countless images of the Lusitano horse that adorn the town.
Opened in 2001, Club Lusitanus is renowned for its training facilities and the riding courses which combine individual classical dressage tuition on schoolmaster Lusitano horses for all levels of rider.
The 2009 Classical Riding Courses comprise:
| • | Lessons - 2 per day (maximum of 2 persons per lesson) in the superb Lusitanus indoor riding hall |
| • | Accommodation on site – comfortable twin bedded rooms with en-suite bathrooms |
| • | Meals - breakfast and 1 other 3 course meal daily (taken at either Cafe Central or Restaurant Lusitanus). Wine and soft drinks are included with the meals. |
| • | Car rental – collection on arrival at Lisbon Airport and drop off prior to departure |
Cost: 3 Day Course £450.00 / 4 Day Course £600.00 / 5 Day Course £750.00 / 7 Day Course £975.00
The above prices are based on 2 persons sharing a twin room and the car. Single supplements apply. Please note no flights are included in the price of the holiday. Non-riders are also very welcome. Courses may start on any day of the week.
The equestrian and accommodation facilities at Lusitanus are impressive. The traditional courtyard has 25 stables full of Portuguese Lusitano horses, famed for their athletic ability, intelligence and kind, generous temperaments. Easy to sit on, the breed provides the most comfortable of rides. The resident instructors/trainers are Francisco Cancela de Abreu and Goncalo Linhas, both of whom speak good English and are experienced in teaching all levels of rider.
