Bento has now established a regular series of clinics in the UK, The clinics have proved to be very popular and have sold out very quickly. This is rare chance to come and see a top Classical Portuguese rider/trainer in action and learn some methods behind the beauty. Please call early to avoid disappointment, the clinics are held at our home near Tonbridge, Kent or at Turville Valley Stud in Buckinghamshire. Bento's training method follows the methods of the classical Portuguese masters. It produces horses with great impulsion and lightness and maximises agility. The basis of the work is in f1inding and maintaining the correct balance in which each individual horse works effectively; a balance in which the horse is free physically and mentally to give the best of which he is capable. Bento is immensely skilled at enabling a rider to find this balance and the result is immediate and often dramatic improvements on horses of all sorts, from Lusitanos to thoroughbreds and warmbloods. Bento's English is excellent and he takes time to explain each exercise and the principles behind the work. Most people find that a lesson with him gives them a whole new insight into what they and their horse are capable of and go home with enough homework to keep them going for several months ! Bento's preferred format is for each horse and rider to have two lessons per day shared with one other combination. Lessons can be intense and this format gives both horse and rider time within the lesson to absorb what is being taught. The second session gives the opportunity to revisit the earlier exercises and is really effective at confirming the lessons learned. Individual lessons are available for young horses or those with particular problems.
